Our History
Brand/Neer/Frantz/Stallsmith (BNFS) Insurance Agency opened in 1921 and has been in the same location in Urbana since its opening.
The agency began as Brand/Neer Company, which was a law firm and insurance agency.
In the 1940s Mr. Frantz started an insurance agency and real estate company. Then, in the early 1950s he hired Mr. Stallsmith as an agent and they became Frantz and Stallsmith.
In 1956 Brand/Neer Company merged with Frantz and Stallsmith, at which time they became known as Brand/Neer/Frantz/Stallsmith (BNFS). Then, in 1963 Stallsmith became sole owner.
In 1970, Charlie Havens began working at BNFS part-time and then moved on to become a claims adjuster in 1974. However, in 1977 Mr. Havens was asked to come back and join the firm as a partial owner. Mr. Havens purchased the remainder of the business in 1983 and became the sole owner.
In 2006 BNFS merged with CoverLink Insurance with a focus on creating, and maintaining, a legacy of always caring for its clients.
